Relocation of 6,000 Rolls of Fabric for Agua Fabrics
30 Nov 2022

Relocation of 6,000 Rolls of Fabric for Agua Fabrics
Agua Fabrics, a four-generation family business specialising in technical soft fabrics and faux leathers, had been operating from their storage location in Romford for over 30 years. Due to the expansion and development of the business, Agua Fabrics decided to relocate their warehouse operations to Bolton in October 2022. They awarded this complex project to Bishop’s Move to complete.
Project Scope
Bishop’s Move was tasked with relocating the entire warehouse operations of Agua Fabrics, which included identifying and relabelling all rolls of fabric, removing any stock rolls of less than 2 metres in length, and organising the remaining stock onto approximately 250 stillages. The relocation also involved transporting all stock on 8 articulated vehicles to the new location in Bolton, ensuring the stock was ready for picking and shipping the next working day.
Client’s Requirements
The client required the move to be completed over a period of 7 days, with specific needs including:
- A dedicated on-site Move Manager to coordinate the specialist team of porters and packers.
- On-site surveys and planning meetings (2 days).
- Picking based on a packing list and pre-printed labels.
- A 7-day move programme involving 14-18 staff per day.
- Peak move times necessitating 2 articulated vehicles per day.
- Packing support.
- Labelling and stock check of materials as part of the move.
- Weekend working to accommodate site availability and operational space.
Detailed Project Execution
The Move
Items Moved: 6,000 Rolls of Fabric
Moved From: Romford
Moved To: Bolton
Number of Phases: 2
Key Concerns:
- Identification and labelling of all rolls individually.
- Completing a stock check as the move progressed, with materials stored in multiple locations (bulk storage and picking areas).
- Handling various lengths of the same fabric split across a mezzanine and main floor.
- Limited space at the vacating site required efficient packing within existing space constraints.
Execution and Management
Bishop’s Move teams completed the identification and relabelling of all rolls of fabric over a period of 7 extended days. They removed any stock rolls of less than 2 metres in length and placed all retained stock onto approximately 250 stillages to support a new storage and picking solution. The stock was then relocated on 8 articulated vehicles and delivered to Bolton, ready for picking and shipping the next working day.
Key Achievements
- Efficient Coordination: A dedicated on-site Move Manager ensured seamless coordination of the specialist team, resulting in efficient execution of the move.
- Accurate Labelling and Stock Check: The identification, labelling, and stock check of 6,000 rolls of fabric were completed accurately, facilitating smooth relocation.
- Timely Completion: The move was completed within the 7-day programme, with stock ready for picking and shipping the next working day.
- Effective Use of Space: Managed the limited space at the vacating site effectively, ensuring packing and moving operations were carried out efficiently.
Conclusion
Bishop’s Move demonstrated expertise and efficiency in managing the complex relocation of Agua Fabrics’ warehouse operations. Through meticulous planning, effective project management, and a commitment to meeting tight deadlines, Bishop’s Move successfully executed the move, ensuring a smooth transition to the new location in Bolton. This case study highlights Bishop’s Move’s capability to deliver high-quality relocation services, reinforcing their reputation as a reliable partner for complex relocation projects.
