James Comley of Bishop’s Move takes on two 10k runs to raise money for Martin House Hospice for Children & Young People.
James Comley, Group Domestic Sales Manager at Bishop’s Move, has completed two 10k runs in the space of three weeks to raise money for Yorkshire-based Martin House Hospice for Children & Young People. Completing the Leeds 10k run on the 20th July in 48 minutes, James went on to cross the finish line at the York 10k on the 3rd August in 45 minutes, all whilst raising £275 for the charity.
Bishop’s Move’s York branch – part of the Bishop’s Move Group which is this year celebrating its 160th year in business – has, for some time, supported Martin House Hospice through its 'Declutter and Donate' initiative. Donation sacks are provided to residents in advance of their house move and then on the day of any relocation, Bishop’s Move’s removal team in York put these bags of unwanted belongings to one side whilst they pack and wrap the remaining household items. The crew then take the donated items back to the branch before arranging for the items to be transported to Martin House Hospice's charity shops so that they can be sold, raising much needed funds for the charity.
Based in Wetherby, Martin House Hospice opened in 1987. It is a purpose built hospice for children, young people and their families and they take referrals from the Yorkshire region as they aim to support and care for families in which there is a child with a life-limiting condition.
James Comley comments: “I wanted to help raise money to ensure Martin House Hospice has the funds to keep up its remarkable standard of care for the future. It is a charity which has touched the heart of myself and Bishop’s Move. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this experience and I will certainly do it again and I’d like to thank everyone for their kind donations.”
Chris Marshall, Marketing Director Bishop’s Move comments: “We are immensely proud of what James has achieved by raising money for this wonderful charity. Everyone at Bishop’s Move would like to congratulate him on such a wonderful achievement. As a company, it is our prerogative to raise money and support good causes through initiatives and events such as marathons, 10k runs and our specialist declutter & donate service. We are fully behind people like James who want to get out there and make a difference to so many lives.”
