Case Study – Italia Conti
Case Study – Italia Conti

Italia Conti, a leading Performing Arts institution in the UK, entrusted  our dedicated team with the complex task of relocating its facilities in 2021. With over 110 years of history, Italia Conti is internationally renowned for its exceptional training across a variety of performing arts disciplines.

The move spanned multiple phases and involved moving the contents of three separate sites—two of which were relocated on the same day—to a new facility in Woking. The relocation included packing, storage, and the eventual delivery of school contents into the new site, utilising three 40ft trailers and 60 containers. Due to a delay in the handover of the new site, the project required extended storage and reprogrammed deliveries to areas that were still under construction.

 Client’s Requirements

To ensure the smooth execution of this multi-faceted move, the following requirements were set by the client:

  • Conducting on-site surveys and planning meetings over 9 days.
  • Project Director support for coordinating multi-phase, multi-building moves.
  • Packing support and crate hire for the safe transportation of items.
  • Storage solutions to accommodate the school’s contents for an extended period.
  • A dedicated on-site Move Manager to coordinate a specialist team of porters.
  • Furniture clearance from vacated sites.

The Move

Moved from:  3 Sites in London & Guildford

Moved to:  Storage and new purpose built facility in Woking.

Number of Phases:4

The relocation of Italia Conti presented significant challenges. The contents of multiple London sites had to be cleared within a tight two-day window, despite poor lift access and the presence of multiple contractors. Redelivery to the new Woking site was complicated by ongoing construction and limited loading bay access, this meant that the move had to be carefully coordinated . However, despite these obstacles, the project was successfully completed, highlighting the importance of precise planning and execution.
