When the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (CEFAS) were rationalising their beach-front location in Lowestoft to new facilities, Bishop's Move were pleased to be selected to undertake the relocation.
This particular commercial relocation involved 3 separate phases as the CEFAS facility needed to remain operational throughout the relocation. With this in mind, a meticulous move management plan was put in place to allow for all possible contingencies to relocate the existing laboratory space, workshop and office space whilst old buildings were being demolished and the new site was being built.
The first phase for this Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) included moving over 130 desks to the new site. The second phase involved the professional installation of new IT equipment, including 400 monitors and arms. Whilst the third phase was the complete clearance of 125 rooms in the old Grand Hotel building, over 4 floors, prior to its demolition.

Bishop's Move offered CEFAS a sustainable clearance service for office furniture and equipment that they no longer required and the following local schools; Dell Nursery, Phoenix St Peter School, Elm Tree Primary, St Margaret's School and Northfields Primary all benefited from a donation and free delivery of office chairs, meeting tables, desks, whiteboards and much more.
Emmaus, the UK-based charity working to end homelessness, also received a large donation to help them with their fund-raising.
"I just wanted to say a big thank you for all the teams hard work over the past few weeks. The team really were amazing and worked so hard.
From the start of the work they took great care in ensuring the floors and doors were fully protected, they worked extremely well with the other contractors and various building tradesman and got the moves done earlier than expected...They were always happy, friendly and polite, even at the end of a long hard day. I still can’t believe they cleared the building so quickly. The whole team worked so well together and so well with us, please thank them all for us. We will absolutely keep you in mind for any future work and would highly recommend you to others." commented Sonia Kirby, CEFAS
The professionalism of the Bishop's Move relocation team was evident throughout the job and actually resulted with the project being finished 2 days ahead of schedule.
