Moving can be an intense process, and sometimes it can be put off until the last minute. Whether you've just been informed about your move or you've simply been procrastinating, don’t panic. Read our top tips on how to pack your entire house in less than a week.
1. Plan
The key to any successful move is to plan, regardless of whether you plan on doing so in a few months or a few days. The moving process can be really overwhelming, so make sure you take a deep breath and relax. When you plan your move, you need to consider if you'll need to hire movers. Get this booked in as quickly as possible and then you can focus on the packing. The best way to pack is to allocate things to separate boxes. Plan your packing by room, so that when you come to unpack you can have a few boxes for each room. This process also makes it easier to remember where your belongings are stored within the boxes. 2. Gather your supplies
It is important to ensure you have the correct packing supplies before you actually start the packing process. Don't forget the essentials, like packing tape, paper, bubble wrap and cardboard boxes. If you don't have these you may find that the packing can be slightly difficult.
3. Get some help
Packing your entire help shouldn't be a one-man task, so reach out for help if you need it. There is no shame in asking a friend or family member for an hour or so of their time, as this will essentially half your time. This means you can get everything packed a lot quicker. You can express your gratitude by offering a “thank you” meal or gift.
4. Take fewer things
When you have more things to pack, it will obviously take you more time. Therefore, when you are sorting through your things you should try and throw away some of the things that you don't use so often. This can include clothes that you haven't worn in the past year and other things that aren't of regular use. This will reduce potential clutter in your new home and make the packing process a lot quicker. If you don't want to throw anything away, simply donate your old belongings to a charity shop or even sell them on an online auction site.
5. Don’t forget about the details
There is a lot to be distracted by when you're rushing your packing, but this doesn't mean its okay to forget about the smaller details. Thi scan includes filing a change of address with the post office and transferring services to your new home (e.g. gas, internet, cable, etc.).
