Island Games 2019
The XVIII Island Games were held in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar from 6th – 12th July 2019. The athletics competition, consisting of approximately 2000 participants from 24 teams, representing various islands across the globe. This is the second time in history that the games have been held in Gibraltar, the first being in 1995.
As is common knowledge with a competition of this scale, flawless organisation is key. One aspect of this is the organising of accommodation for all participants who had flown in to compete in 14 sporting events. Bishop’s Move had been employed to undertake this substantial relocation of furniture and effects to house the athletes.
Our crews relocated all properties located at the Island Games venue to make room for housing every competing athlete. Once military properties had been vacated of all previous belongings and furniture by our crews, the properties were revitalised with temporary interiors, suitable for the competitors.
Upon completion of the Island Games, we were asked to quote on the dismantling and removal of said furniture, ready for storage and eventually distribution internationally.
Troy Jeffries, Director of Premier Global Market Solutions Limited said, when reflecting on the completed removals –
“I recently contracted Bishop’s Move (Gibraltar) for the removal of the Gibraltar Island Games furniture for the 129 properties above. It was a scheduled four-week removal and I was particularly impressed with the professionalism, dedication and swiftness of all the workforce under their employment. Their customer services in finding solutions to unforeseen circumstances during the job, was very good and in particular the branch manager was always contactable to solve these issues in short order.
The removal, packing and sorting of the items was done carefully to avoid damage and I would not hesitate to use their services again when needed.
Keep up the good work!”
