New Trading Standards for the BAR

You may not have noticed so we thought we’d let you know that the OFT ( Office of Fair Trading ) trading standards associated with BAR ( British Association of Removers ) has with effect from the 1st April 2013 been replaced by the TSI ( Trading Standards Institute ). The move comes after the TSI was deemed to be a more widely recognised institute than the former OFT.

The British Association of Removers Code of Practice is the only code in the moving industry that’s approved and monitored by the TSI which looks to monitor the performance of all BAR members to ensure they are operating within the Code Comparison (bar.co.uk) and that the Code is working properly in the customers’ interests.

All BAR members abide by the Code that ensures the standards of service received, the quality of the materials used, the standards of vehicles and warehouses, staff training requirements and what will happen if something goes wrong. Most importantly the Code requires BAR moving companies to deal with their customers in a courteous and sympathetic way at all times.

Through this programme and through this new TSI Approved Consumer Code of Practice Scheme, BAR seeks to raise standards in the industry so customers may receive an efficient and trouble free move.  As the founder member of the BAR, Bishop’s Move are proudly supporting this new scheme for this affiliate and have been working towards ensuring that all the changes required are carried out swiftly and in full compliance as instructed by the BAR.
