Peabody Trust, one of London’s oldest and largest housing associations, manages over 67,000 homes across the city and the South East. In 2022, Peabody Trust needed to clear two central London office sites—Queen Elizabeth Street and Westminster Bridge Road—as part of a major organisational shift. To handle this large-scale office and furniture clearance, they turned to Bishop’s Move following a competitive tender process.
Bishop’s Move was tasked with clearing approximately 930 workstations across the two London sites. The goal was to ensure that over 90% of the unwanted furniture was re-used or recycled, aligning with Peabody’s sustainability commitments. Strict deadlines were imposed, and the project was further complicated by Covid-19 restrictions in place at the time.
Peabody Trust required the clearance of office furniture from two locations, with a focus on ensuring the reuse of at least 90% of the materials in charitable donations or other environmentally beneficial initiatives within two months of the final removal. Both buildings had tight timelines for completion, which added pressure to the project.
Bishop’s Move coordinated with their charity partner, Sense, to repurpose and donate a significant portion of the furniture. As a result, Sense raised over £6,200 to support their work with individuals living with complex disabilities. The project was successfully completed on time, with zero furniture sent to landfill, showcasing Bishop's Move’s commitment to sustainability.
The collaboration between Peabody Trust and Bishop’s Move highlights a successful, eco-conscious office clearance project that not only met strict deadlines but also exceeded sustainability expectations. Through careful planning and charitable partnerships, Bishop’s Move reinforced its ability to deliver large-scale, environmentally friendly office relocations and clearances
