Playground Games, a leading AAA game development studio founded in 2010, is renowned for producing genre-defining video games for a global audience. With a growing team and plans for future expansion, the company needed to reorganise staff across two office locations in Leamington Spa. To handle this complex internal and external relocation, Playground Games selected Bishop’s Move to execute their first externally arranged re-stack in January 2023.

Project Scope

Bishop’s Move was awarded the contract to facilitate the internal and external reconfiguration of 108 staff members between two separate locations: Rossmore House and St Albans House in Leamington Spa. The goal of the project was to reorganise existing teams to accommodate future recruitment plans while minimising disruption to ongoing operations.

Client’s Requirements

Playground Games required a relocation partner with expertise in IT systems to manage the reorganisation of their setup, which had evolved over the past decade using in-house IT support. Bishop’s Move attended pre-move planning meetings to assess the scope of work, conducted a pre-move audit of all equipment, and devised a reconfiguration and move sequence in collaboration with internal departments. A key part of the project was the strip-out and reinstallation of cable management, which had become disorganised over time.

Bishop’s Move provided a team of 16 IT engineers to handle the reconfiguration, supported by five additional staff to pack, relocate, and unpack IT equipment. The team also ensured proper cable management and reinstalled monitor arms and screens as required.

The Move

  • Move Type: Internal and external staff relocations across two UK offices
  • Location: Rossmore House and St Albans House, Leamington Spa
  • Number of Phases: One
  • Key Concerns: Efficient reconfiguration of IT equipment and cable management to support future expansion.

Detailed Project Execution

The project was planned and executed over one phase. Bishop’s Move coordinated with Playground Games to ensure a smooth transition between the two office locations. The relocation involved packing, moving, and unpacking IT equipment, with careful attention paid to the cable management and the positioning of monitor arms and screens. The IT engineers ensured that the reconfiguration of equipment was completed efficiently, minimising downtime for the teams.

Key Achievements

  • IT Reconfiguration: The complex IT setup was successfully reconfigured, meeting the client’s expectations and future growth plans.
  • Enhanced Cable Management: All cable management issues were addressed, improving the organisation and functionality of the office setup.
  • Efficient Coordination: The move was completed in a single phase with minimal disruption to staff and operations.

Conclusion

The successful partnership between Playground Games and Bishop’s Move highlights the latter’s expertise in managing IT-heavy relocations for tech-driven companies. Through detailed planning and precise execution, Bishop’s Move ensured a seamless transition, allowing Playground Games to continue their work on world-class video games while preparing for future expansion.
