Bishop’s Move were delighted to provide a vehicle and driver for two days to support Portsmouth Football club’s affiliated local charity, Pompey in the Community, with their bike ride from Fratton Park, Portsmouth FC to AFC Wimbledon. The Bishop’s Move van and driver Glen, assisted as a support vehicle over the 2 days, carrying the disability bikes and other essential items.
On Friday the 12th & Saturday the 13th October, cyclists from Pompey in the Community and Larcomes Solicitors took part in a two-day cycling event covering over 75 miles to raise money for Pompey in the Community’s local scheme, ‘Wheels for All’. Starting from Fratton Park, Portsmouth on the 12thOctober, the ride finished Saturday 13th October when Portsmouth played away at AFC Wimbledon.
‘Wheels for All’ is a free programme for anyone who wants to cycle. With access to adapted cycles, anyone can experience the freedom of cycling, increasing their fitness, sociability and having fun. The programme is run by volunteers and relies heavily on public donations to ensure the future of the programme which requires support to maintain the repairs and purchasing of new bikes for disabled cyclists.
Solent Manager, Stuart Jacobs commented: ‘We are proud to be able to get involved and support such a worthy charity in this challenging but fun event. Bishop’s Move were just glad to be able to contribute in some way in helping the local community. We wish Pompey In the Community all the best with the continuation and development of their Wheels for All programme and are looking forward to getting involved in more local projects with Pompey in the Community in 2019.’
